I was
invited to stay 3 nights at Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie
Florida. The resort is very nice, not a 4 star but a high 3. It is
all-inclusive which is great because there aren't any additional charges
unless you want spa treatments or power boats.
This resort is European run so the colors are vibrant , the accommodations aren't luxury but they are comfortable and clean.
Best part about
this resort is you don't need a passport to get there if you live in
the USA. It was a short 3 hour ride for me and I'm on the opposite coast
of Florida.
The food is 4 star. The main dining is buffet
style. I had prime rib for lunch one day. It was carved for me so I
could request that I wanted well done. The chefs are right there and can
accommodate any request you have with no problem. Never had a bad
meal. They have such a variety that everyone can find something to eat.
They have a small refrigerator next to the soda and coffee machine that
has wine bottles you can take to your table. There is also a sit down
outside restaurant that serves sandwiches and salad.
There is a
show almost nightly put on by the GO's - Gracious Organizers. These
kids work hard and are utilized all over the property but they always
have a smile and are very helpful. After the show they go into Slice
which is the bar but it used for multiple things also. The GO's get on
the stage and lead dances for all ages. It was fun to see whole families
out there dancing together.
This is a wellness resort. They
have an exceptional tennis and golf program with a world class coach who
trained Andre Agassi and Monica Selas, just to name two. Also PGA
coaches for golf. As well as clubs for children. Children 4 and above
can attend the clubs free of charge. 4 months to 3 years old have clubs
but they charge $85.00 a day. They provide diapers, formula, food, etc.
so you don't have to travel with all that. That alone is worth the
price. The staff are only assigned to the kids clubs, they don't work
elsewhere on the property. Very clean areas and lots for the kids to do.
The L'Occitane Spa is the only one in the States. They have a Whisper Area outside the spa with a very Zen like atmosphere.
I saw a group of women who played tennis, enjoyed the spa and sat out
on their patio just laughing, having a few cocktails and enjoying a
girls retreat.
Club Med is international. They are also very
travel agent friendly and prefer that clients book through one so
sometimes there may be extra perks!
Please let me know if you would like information about any of the 80 worldwide locations.
